A good book has no ending

I just love books, the ability authors have to transport you to a different place, is really something else entirely. I have been reading alot lately. Finding myself picking up a book and not being able to put it down. Its so nice to be able to sit down and just soak in literature. For the last 3 years, I have found it hard to sit down, relax and just enjoy a book, always feeling guilty that I should really be reading something pertaining to my degree. But now that I am due to graduate in May and have no more classes, fiction has crept back into my daily routine, infact last night I stayed up late and read an entire novel. It was delicious.

So now I am on the hunt for new books to delight in.
Any suggestions? Books or Authors?

I think I might just go home, get myself a glass of iced ginger and lemon and start one of the paperbacks that is waiting faithfully for me on the shelf in my room.

Dear You,

I have spent so much time lately on the sweetest website letters to crushes. Oh I just find it to be ever so sweet and it makes me smile.

These are some of my favourite little letters...

I still have the drawing you made for me. I always pretend I don’t know where it is, but I do.

— S

I want to know what colour of paint is on your bedroom walls. I want to know whether you cross your legs when you watch your favourite show. I want to know what your fingers would feel like in mine. I want to know what your hair looks like when you wake up in the morning. I want to know what books made you cry. I want to know your favourite architect. I want to know how hard you can hug. But most of all I want to know if you want to know the same things about me.
— N

i was thinking this summer that maybe we could fall in love. you interested?
— girl

boy on the subway,
I hope you don’t give everyone that smile. Even if you do, I will continue to believe it was just for me.
— anonymous

  1. You’re adorable (especially with your glasses)
  2. Don’t be jealous. They don’t have what you have.
  3. Could you play me a song?
  4. Maybe we can share a rainwalk someday. Or a sunset.
  5. I think I like you.

— Me

you said something about protons and atoms and I spaced out, thinking that everyone else was wrong when they said you weren’t cute. you’re adorable.

you like chemistry? want to see if it likes us?
— bimbo

I wonder if anyone has ever written anything like that about me, I certainly know I have thought things like that about other people. Infact, I wrote a little note to letters to crushes about 2 minutes ago. Maybe you need to tell someone what you are feeling too? Or maybe you will just take delight in knowing you're not the only one wishing...

Here Comes the Sun

Amanda Thomas is a 22 year old New Zealand beauty, and author of the brilliant blog Here Comes the Sun, A blog filled with beautiful images, thoughts and other wonderous goodies to feed your soul. A self proclaimmed 'dreamer' Amanda's blog serves as in inspiration to not only me but many in the blogging community. She pops in to talk about Hanson, Getting her husband out of bed and Mary-Kate and Ashley

Hi my name is Amanda But you can call me Mandy.
I take my coffee with lots of sugar because I'd really prefer a cup of tea! My favourite things about blogging are feeling creative and inspired. In my house you will find lots of Beatles memorabilia, a huge dvd collection and usually my husband! My favourite boyband from the 90s is does Hanson count? (TOTALLY COUNTS!!) My favourite season is SUMMER because it usually means a holiday and lots of barbecues with friends. Every morning I check my emails and drag my husband out of bed. My favourite thing to cook is a hot homemade curry. If I could travel anywhere in the world I would go to Sweden because I'm slightly obsessed. I think everyone should know that the Beatles are much better than whatever's in the top 20 these days. On Sunday Afternoons I sleep and blog and have lots of cups of tea. The best advice my mum ever gave me was wear sunscreen and don't break hearts. I am inspired by lots of amazing blogs and photographers, my friends, great magazines and books and it's kinda getting easier to admit- Mary- Kate and Ashley. And Finallly In 2010 I will get a fulltime job and save as much as I can.

If you havent already, Make sure you check out Amanda's amazing blog, It makes me smile everytime I pop over for an afternoon visit.

If You Never Did, You Should.

Jodi Sagorin is an 18 year old californian sweetheart, who is the author of the blog If You Never Did, You Should. The blog is filled with inspiring adventures that Jodi and her friends embark on, and inspires us all to enjoy the little things, and experience those things we just never thought we would do... She drops by for a wee chat about life, South Africa and Led Zeppelin.

Hi my name is Jodi Sagorin and my blog is If You Never Did, You Should. I came up with my blog because I want to share my adventures and prove that anyone, anywhere can do things they are happy about and proud of. I hope that people really go out there and do their thing, their own way, and do the things they've always wanted to do, but never did... because they should! I take my coffee with tons of sugar! The best thing I have learnt in the last 7 days is that a nice fire, a good book, and hot chocolate cure any bad day blues. In my bedroom you will find shelves of books, a giant chalkboard wall, pictures of friends, and my bed which i outgrew about 5 years ago and is horribly small My favourite disney movie is The Lion King! I think it's because it reminds me of home.. I was born in South Africa :) I am passionate about experiencing life! Oh so cliche but I really want to do everything I set my mind to. This is my favorite quote: No matter how careful you are, there's going to be the sense you missed something, the collapsed feeling under your skin that you didn't experience it all. One of my first childhood memories is of my mother singing Shosholoza to me every night. It's an African folk song and it always reminds me of home. I believe in never losing touch with your inner child. On Sunday Afternoons I am usually driving to the most random places looking for something to do. The last song that I listened to was Black Dog. Gotta love a little Led Zeppelin! I think everyone should know that limits they set for themselves are imaginary. The best advice my mum ever gave me was that being kind and empathetic costs nothing. I am inspired by the Birdmen! These guys are nuts and are basically living my dream. And finally, In 2010 I will swim with sharks.

Check out Jodi's awesome blog, and maybe you too will be inspired to do something you have never done... But should.

Forward, march.

I am going away for a while
But I'll be back, don't try and follow me
'Cause I'll return as soon as possible
See I'm trying to find my place
But it might not be here where I feel safe
We all learn to make mistakes
Paramore - Misguided Ghosts

The thought of leaving what I know and stepping out into a world that is a lot bigger than I once imagined, is sitting in the back of my mind, and slowly becoming more and more prominent. It has not even been a week since my return home, and I missing travelling already. The experiences, The people, the situations. There is just so much to learn, so much to explore, so much to take in.
I have an itch in my feet.
Wellington will always be home. This place is filled with everything that is good, and some things which are better. The constant and unchanging
  • Hugs from the Heart
  • True friends who know my insides better than any other
  • Cheap wine and tacky photos
  • My Family
  • My Past. The good, the bad and the ugly.

But there is so much more than this windy little city. So much more that I will experience.

  • The endless stretches of highways
  • The coldest of winters
  • The endless summers
  • New Friends, New Memories
  • The never ending photo opportunites

And then, I guess there are the things that will always make me happy, no matter where I am in this beautiful world.

  • Good books
  • Good music
  • Family
  • Friends
  • Cold Beer in the afternoon
  • Movies on Rainy days
  • Adventures on Sunny days
  • Roadtrips
  • Chivalry
  • Love
Who knows how long it will be before I am on the road again, I suspect it won't be to far in the distant future. But for now, I will wait, happy in the place I am in right at this moment, and continue to day dream about the places I will meet, the sights I will witness and the souls I will encounter.

Just for now...

This will be a place for me to share the things I find beautiful, the thoughts I been shared with me, and the ones that I have shared with others. Its a place for the wondering soul to find rest, an online catalogue of the things that make me smile, laugh, and sometimes the things that make me cry. Its a place for melodies and memories, for first loves and forgotten loves.

Its a place for you and me.

A new year. A new perspective. There are so many things that make me smile. So I thought I would document a few. No doubt, I will do this sort of thing a lot.
