Its that time. The time when I have to undertake the arduous task of packing all my things into boxes, deciding what I will take and what I wont, and cleaning up my current space. And truth be told, I have no idea where to start, or what to do, or how the heck I am going to get my life into the backseat of my car. Holy smokes. 15 days until I move, and I figure, its really about time that I started to get things in order, otherwise, I am never going to be ready to move in two weekends from now.
I knew I was a bit of a hoarder {read: Keeps everything. And I mean, everything} but man. I have ALOT of stuff. Lucky for me, My mama is allowing me to keep some of it at her home while I sort my life out and work out what I can and cant fit into my bedroom. You see in this move to Auckland, Im downsizing my space quiet considerably, which means my already over cluttered room is going to have no chance of fitting into my new space. And I dont want to fill up my new space with stuff just for the hell of it. So! Does anyone have any suggestions? Ideas on where to start, what to pack, what I can potentially live without... Eeeek! Not looking forward to this at all. {I wish my boxes were going to be full of new Ikea products like the dude in that photo...lucky begger!} Or maybe I should buy a lotto ticket, win the lottery, give everything away and start all over again? Yes! I like the sound of that.

Oh I hate moving but it is always a good excuse to have a big clean out. My only advice is make three piles and a definitely taking, maybe taking and definitely not pile. Depending on how big the yes definitely pile is will determine what you can take from the maybe pile. Goodluck!!!
ReplyDeleteMoving is awful. I, too, am a bit of a hoarder, but I live in such a small space now that I have been forced to adapt my lifestyle, for the better I think. But it was so hard moving here because I had to give so much up.
ReplyDeleteI'm the kind of person that puts almost nothing in the "no" pile. What I've had to realize, is that items only have meaning we give them. When it comes to saving things for sentimental purposes, I try to limit myself to one item per memory, if that makes sense. I have also become ruthless about keeping clothes, which has really helped.
Ahhh, good luck! I am so excited for you and your new adventures!! :)
ReplyDeleteBe ruthless darling you can do it. If you haven't seen or touched it in the last six months you probably don't need it. I wish I could come down and help!
ReplyDeleteI hate moving so all i can say is good luck!! i'm afraid i'm too far away to help :)
ReplyDeleteYay for hoarding! haha good luck with the move, be ruthless,

Oh wow! Moving can be so stressful, but I agree with Megan - try and have three different piles and leave stuff you absolutely do not need! Good luck, Tillie!!!
